jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Random - Ten/Hello)
[personal profile] jadesfire

This is just a very quick random thought about the end - reaction tomorrow when I'm not trying to watch the tennis at the same time...

...okay, I can see them keeping things really well under wraps, and maybe we will get a new Doctor. But.

But.

All the waaaay back in "The Doctor's Daughter", Jenny regenerates. Only she doesn't. And caused much fandom drama. She stayed the same just, you know, not dead any more. They made a point of showing "the hand" near the beginning of the episode, and they haven't been dropping red herrings this season. And yes, before anyone points it out to me, Jenny's coming back to life was completely different. Still. Thoughts?

Also, who is the 'most faithful/constant(?) companion? (someone help me out here with the quote). Jack, because he's just plain always there? Rose, for travelling the dimensions? And what is Donna? Because there's no way she's just human.

And why am I out at the theatre next Saturday night? Why? Why?

Overall, I had much squee for the Torchwood crew in this, and love Jack getting his teleporter back working. Sarah I felt was wasted a little, Martha wasn't which made a nice change, and the whole thing suffered from the same plot-overload as 'Sound of Drums'. But I love that there were no red herrings this year, that the bees were significant after all, and that RTD really paid back those fans who were paying attention. This makes me happy.

Also, how much do I want 'Jack following Sarah's work' fic? And how much do I love him showing up at the end and taking charge? Maybe I'm just easy, but SO MUCH LOVE. Just brilliant. Although I kind of wanted more of a "Rose!?!?!?!" from him, because hello? This is the first time he's seeing her since the Gamestation. Please don't leave that unaddressed, RTD. Please.

I was squeaking all the way through this. The Doctor's Army!

I am a bit sad that Gwen, Ianto and Luke don't get to visit the TARDIS, though.

So impatient for next week. So IMPATIENT!

Should Jack have had SOME sort of "OMG ROSE!" reaction?

But in all seriousness, seeing him fanboy Sarah Jane was hysterical.

Yay for all the random guest reappearances like Francine and Harriet Jones and the Judoon and mention of Woman's Wept and other random things like that... but... *sigh* Daleks. So much *sigh*

It was awesome, but yes, where was the "ROOOOOOOOOOOOOSE!" reaction? that'd better just be because there's too much else going on OR that he knew all along, which would also be kind of cool ;)

The Daleks don't do much for me unless I just turn off my brain and accept what the script is telling me. DT's reaction to them also helps, because I can buy the Doctor's fear, even if I'm not struck on them myself, if you see what I mean...

Re the most faithful companion, don't forget that Martha traveled a dead/dying Earth for a year for him...

It was the "everlasting death" (or "eternal death", whichever) part that made me flail, because death is everlasting for *everybody*--except Jack.

OMG I JUST HAD A HORRIBLE THOUGHT. During Midnight, the Doctor spits out the line of his companions: "RoseTylerMarthaJonesDonnaNobleTARDIS." He considers the TARDIS a companion! And she'd definitely qualify as "most faithful"...

OK, I KNOW that won't possibly happen. But won't the idea give you nightmares?

I didn't count Martha, because in the end, she left him - Rose had to be sucked into a different universe, and even then she came back.

Huh, I hadn't noticed that about 'everlasting death' - I can't see it being Jack, because hey, TW S3 is coming, but I could see someone ending up like the Family of Blood. I worry for Donna...

Hee. Trust me, my nightmares have plenty of fuel so that won't even get a look in. It's possible, but I'll believe it when I see it :)

there's a lot riding on next week. I'm trying not to get too worked up, because there is no way on Earth (or anywhere else) that it can live up to all the anticipation.

Can it?

Er....

Is it Sunday yet? (I won't get to see it on Saturday!)

I think I fell in love with Donna's grandad in this episode, with his paintball gun. That is clearly where Donna gets her awesome genes from.

I really want to know how they're going to not regenerate DT without it feeling disappointing. The start of the story always starts well (like with the Master decimating the human race, for example) and ends up being a bit lame (ageing the doctor 900 years?!). Fingers crossed its good. I imagine it will be like Jenny again, if anything.

And the faithful companion - I want it to be Rose because then maybe we can finally have the series move on and get over her. But equally, I don't want her to be immortalised as The Most Faithful because Donna and Martha were more awesome!

Cannot wait for next week!

I know what you mean about Rose, but knowing RTD, it's gonna be her. Unless he throws us a complete curve ball, which will make me very happy :D

Most faithful companion - the TARDIS, surely? She's been with him most of his life...

There's got to be some kind of reset button somewhere. I don't know how - except it has to involve Mickey and Jackie and Jake somehow - but unless the BBC have been outright lying to us, DT's not out of it.

Also: 65 MINUTES NEXT WEEK! Wheeeeee!

Definitely a reset button, I think, and maybe that's where the TARDIS comes in. Huh, there's a thought...or something that passes for one at this time in the morning ;)

Ooh, I didn't notice that! w00t! Although it means I'll have to get up extra-early Sunday morning to watch, since I'm at the theatre on Sat. night. I'm really looking forward to it - promenade production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, in a wood, actors on stilts! how cool is that? - but boy does my timing suck...
