mad_jaks! Hope you have a great day.
Quick Advert
I have a whole bunch of X-men and related comics that I want to try and get rid of before we move, and I wondered if anyone around here would be interested in them. If you're not, I'll just put them on Ebay and see what happens, but I figured some of you guys might have missing issues that you want to replace, or something like that. They're going for £1 each (or make me an offer for bulk orders ;)), plus however much the postage costs, and I'll send them anywhere in the world. My other half has a PayPal account for settling up, which is probably safest for everyone.
The complete list is incredibly long, so it's all in a separate post, here. They're mostly modern era, as well as Age of Apocalypse and some random other stuff. All are in good condition, and are bagged. Some are even boarded. Leave a comment or drop me a line if you want any!
I'm loving reading through
perspi's stories again, and she's been kind enough to let me play with them. So, two audiofics for you - and I highly recommend the stories, even if you're not a listening person.
Soul to Squeeze
"I'm fine," Rodney snapped, and it would have been believable if Rodney weren't such a lousy liar. A wonderfully clever, unfolding AU.

Down to the Bones

With huge thanks to
perspi for permission and enthusiasm.
[will be crossposting to
sgapodfic and
amplificathon later with apologies for spamming]
I've been reading the previews over at
sgabigbang, and so far this is the one I'm most excited about. Normally, I wouldn't even consider anything with the label "Sheppard/Weir", but
irony_rocks seems to have caught the Elizabeth I want to read, so I'm prepared to give it a chance.
All I have to decide now is whether my own preview should be the srs bizness that people have put up so far, or if I should try something slightly more random. How exactly do I summarise and choose samples from a story that covers grief, explosions, friendship, obsession, technobabble, true love, dodgy science, mind invasion, the abuse of the Latin language and Grand Theft Spaceship? But isn't a comedy. Any thoughts? Answers on the back of a postcard, please...

Or if you want a bit of serious advice that is much harder use, try an excerpt that you feel particularly proud of?
Really, I'd be happy with explosions...:)
The summary you have written above seems like a decent summary*, if a bit short. I'd read the story on the strength of that summary, at least. :)
*of the action, not the plot

Date: 2008-07-29 04:12 pm (UTC)I'll be back to dl - later both of those look like my kind of fic :D
Personally? I'm fond of quirky summaries but I'm possibly not the person to say *anything* as I have been asked to provide one for someone I am betaing for and am coming up woefully short... ho hum

Date: 2008-07-30 11:43 am (UTC)Competitive sides can be a nuisance (that's why icon challenge comms were invented for in mu opinion!)Trouble is, if you then write a summary that isn't in your usual style it can come off looking stilted... I'd say 'stick with being yourself'. So what if your summary is different from everyone else's? It will just make it stand out from the crowd :D
