Today's stupid:
From quiz-show "The Weakest Link":
HOST: In Tolkein's Lord of the Rings trilogy, the third and final book is called "The Return of the" what?
CONTESTANT: Jedi
Major General Charles F. Kuyk jr.: [The Air Force is please with the performance of the C-5A cargo plane, although] having the wings fall of at 8,000 hours is a problem.
Also, Oxford's main shopping street gets more disturbing every day. I understand that everyone has to make a living and that yes, someone probably has to make a living selling eight-foot long, one-foot diameter, sausage-shaped balloons. I understand that two for a pound is a good deal and that in order to get people to buy one, you need to have one blown up and that, if you're holding it, it's going to wave in the air above everyone's heads so that they can see it clear from the other end of Cornmarket.
But, honestly, really and truly, does the balloon have to be pink and ribbed? Seriously? O_O
Proof that the BBC loves me and wants me to be happy: "The Doctor Dances" is available on the iPlayer at the moment. Oh Jack *happy sigh*

Shit, I need to do an icon re-haul. I need Nine, Jack, Rose, Gwen, Woolsey, and I know I'm forgetting someone... *headdesk*

Date: 2008-08-22 06:31 pm (UTC)That's so awesome! Once SGA's over (*sniff*), I plan to go back and re-watch some Torchwood - it's been too long since I was in the groove, and I've lost the character voices a little. There's a couple of WIPs just waiting to be finished off, but SGA owns my soul right now...
Yay! Welcome to the fandom! It's...well, occasionally as scary as it looks, but all the Torchwood people on my flist are mostly sane ;)

Oh, America. Take a few cues from this side of the pond. Some of our aircraft have been flying for over thirty years.
By the way, I'm sorry they're cancelling SGA. I know it's the fandom that's eaten your brain :(

Date: 2008-08-22 07:59 pm (UTC)Thanks. Yeah, and it's been a nice ride, and I'll probably still potter in the fandom, because they're really nice folks. Weirdly, considering it's so big, I'm actually more comfortable there than I was in Torchwood - which I do plan to get back to later in the year, though ;)
