Yeah, yeah, I know you guys in the US have had a lot of voting lately, but this will make a difference to a number of SGA authors and every vote counts! ;)

Photobucket

There are 23 stories, all which create an OC and describe an H/C situation. All in 500 words. They're all linked from THIS POST, which is also where you cast your vote.

One of the positive things about this challenge is that people *have* to give a reason for why they voted one way or another, or the vote doesn't count. Comments can also be left on individual stories, but the votes have to be given for a reason. As with anything that involves...er...well, people, the results are a bit hit and miss, but in general, it's been good.

This was a hard challenge, trust me on this one, and there are some really imaginative responses. I've already voted, but it doesn't actually finish until next Monday, 10th November, you've got plenty of time.

Most of all, enjoy!

Huh, I missed that. That *is* a lot of skips. I think OCs scare people, but there were some really imaginative takes on the problem.

And damn it's hard trying to talk about without *actually* talking about it, which neither of us can do til Monday :S

yes! really hard to write! And not talk about!

I like the idea of the skips, in theory, but I wonder if some people are getting out of writing for several times in a row as a result

*nods* That was my thought. I kind of have this ambition to get as far as I can without using mine. I might *have* to for a weekend that I'm away later in November, but really, with the fics only being 500 words (I don't think they're going to get longer), it feels like I'm cheating.

Not that I think people who skip are cheating, it's just. That's how *I'd* feel.

...it's a thing...

using one here or there for a super busy time for you, or something you just cant quite write is fine, but to keep using them in a row seems wrong to me. I'd like there to be a rule that when it gets down to the last X number of weeks you HAVE to submit a story

I so hope so. Actually, I might double-check with the mod. Otherwise, you could skip the penultimate 2 rounds and just come in at the end, after better authors are out.

Mind you, I'd hate to be the mod on this challenge - Erika's doing a great job when it's just so *complicated*

oh, I wouldn't want that job! *yipes*

There was vague wording that you couldn't skip until the end, but nothing specific

Yeah, that was my memory of it too. Maybe she'll decide as we get closer, or maybe it'll get clearer at that point. I'm sure she's thought of it :)

sounds like it. And most people only have 2 or so skips anyway. *shrugs* I don't know.

Thanks for the reminder! I haven't friended the community, so I've been counting on you to tell me when to go vote. Not a very responsible citizen of fandom, me. :)

*grin* Probably just as well not to friend the comm - it gets absolutely flooded with new entries.

I'll keep you up to date even after I get kicked out, I promise!
