#1. Wicked! is just as awesome the second time around, even at a matinee. Seriously, guys, the quiet songs are not the cue for you to rustle your sweets or get up to go to the loo. No, really.

#2. SAD not only makes you feel tired all the time, it messes with your sleep cycle so you *are* tired all the time. I managed 6 hours in one go from Thursday to Friday. Apart from that, the longest I've managed this last fortnight is four. Please to be stopping with the weird dreams now, 'kaithanx.

#3. I'm writing 2 fics (with other people) that are making me giggle, one that's making me tear my hair out and two more that have deadlines that I don't have a clue what to do with. I should be more worried about this than I am, because I'll think of something. I always do.

#4. I want more time to read and comment to my flist - I feel like I'm missing all of you at the moment. *waves forlornly* Lurking is fine, but it's not the same as communicating. When my brain comes back online, hopefully I'll be able to get back to that.

#5. Today is chores day, since we were out yesterday, and I am having difficulty expressing how much I don't want to sort washing right now. If this feeling was a sound, it would be spelled "bleugh". But since the other half is off hunting and gathering at Sainsbury's, I guess I have to do the homekeeping stuff. It's better than running brats over with the trolley at least.

Hope everyone's weekends were good and that you're all okay out there. Will catch up once I'm out of hibernation.

OH I have some advice for this, seriously - my other half bought me a thing called a Lumie Brightspark ™, it's a lamp about two feet long that, well, it's a sunlight lamp and if you have that on in the corner during the time when it WOULD be daylight if it wasn't bloody winter, you get a lot more energy. Then when you switch it *off* it's like cutting puppet strings and you're off to bed. It's been an absolute revelation. ;) Definitely recommended as a means of making you not want to slit your wrists through to March.

Ooh, that's good to know, thanks! I'm looking at various brands - there are literally hundreds of the damn things promising to make you better, heal your mind and probably bring about global peace or something - but it's really hard to get someone whose not selling it to say "buy this, it's good." Much appreciated, thanks :)

I'm too lazy for anything except maybe throwing myself under a bus. Fortunately my other half held on tight as we walked the Tottenham Court Road yesterday...

I don't have much experience with any other models but these seem to be pretty good - if you can get it set up in work that's even better (I don't know what the law is but in a couple of places where I've worked the company has paid for someone further up the ladder than me to have a sunlight lamp on their desk because it increases productivity or something).

You have *all* my sympathy, honest to gods. There have been previous years where I've ended up sat in A&E with a stomach full of pills because I couldn't physically take any more of December. *fingers crossed* for a lamp that works for you.

#1. I love going to the theatre, but the problem is always other people... Glad you had a good time though - we should organise a London trip sometime and go see a show. Maybe in the New Year...

#2. Have you tried herbal remedies? Bach's are supposed to be good - just something to chill you out before you go to bed. Also, routine might be good - take a bath before bedtime, or meditate, or at least some breathing exercises (I suck at meditating, but I can do the breathing thing). Just something that signals 'sleep time now' to your brain, and makes it start producing the right chemicals.

I second the advice to get a sunlight lamp! It can do absolute wonders for your SAD, I know from personal experience. (November is such an evil month.)

Enjoy the fic writing, and good luck with the boring stuff. *hugs*

November is absolute hell and always has been. At least nowadays I have a word for what's going on - at school it was horrendous. My marks would dip, and my teachers would glare at me, then I'd ace all the exams at Easter and they'd get confused. It's much better knowing what's going on.

The fic writing will get there once I can get my brain to switch on again :)

When you say "hibernation" do you mean until Spring? ::pets you and leaves a pile of berries::

Last week, I was journaling in gmail about my stupid light sensitivity, pondering natural vs. artificial light, and I kept getting this text ad -
http://www.firststreetonline.com/category.jsp?id=47739&promotion=86072&gclid=CPudssSV8JYCFQMCagodIQXDqw

I remember you said you were changing all your bulbs at home to the "daylight" bulbs. Are they anything like the ones in that ad? And are they brighter than regular lights? It does seem like a full spectrum of light could help when your body is craving it. I hope you find some solutions that work for you.

(I'm considering getting a lamp at work so I don't have to use my overhead lights in my office. There's nothing I can do about it in the classroom - I just squint through class - but having something more "daylight"ish and diffuse in my office might help. Weird that *this* gets worse in the winter. Oy.)

Hibernating til Spring sounds just about perfect *munches berries*

The daylight bulbs are sort of brighter than regular lights. The real difference is that the light they give is white not yellow, which makes them *seem* brighter even if they're not. They're a good simulation of daylight, so can help with your body clock in the winter, when you're not getting enough natural light. Hopefully we should have them soon!

Thanks - hope you find something that works for you!

Oh, I knew you said you were looking at light boxes (I know they're terribly expensive though) but I thought you already had the daylight bulbs. I'm sorry, I do hope you're able to get them soon.

The light thing is little more than an irritation and inconvenience for me, though I (and apparently my colleagues) have noticed I'm more irritable, nothing like your difficulties. ::hugs::

the lightboxes are about £100, which is possibly what my sanity is worth ;) We've got a couple of daylight bulbs, but we've also got lots of weird light-fittings in our flat. Some are bayonet, some are screw, and some are so tiny that you can't regular bulbs in there *sigh* I'm spending a lot of time in the bath at the moment, since the bathroom is the only room that's entirely daylight-bulb lit!

If people are noticing, then it's worth doing something about. Stuff's hard enough to get through, without adding constant irritation to the mix :S Maybe a hat *is* the answer ;)
