Dear people who have friended this journal recently,

I'm normally chattier and cheerier than this, generally speaking. But I'm discovering that it's hard to combat depression with chocolate and will-power alone and this is making me even more morose than usual. On the plus side, there are people who've managed to put up with me for the nearly three years that I've been around here, so it is possible.

Speaking of which...

Dear people who've been around and stuck around for some reason,

Sorry for being such a miserable so and so lately. Stuff sucks but I've just had a couple of reminders of how good I have it and it's making me weepily grateful. You're awesome to me when I'm whiny and I love reading you every day. As I said earlier, I'm getting help and I hope to do better in future.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

In other news, my continuing ability to make electrical equipment go kablooey has struck again. The radio in the kitchen has started switching on even when it's turned off. We're having to turn it off at the wall because the intermittently glowing light and occasional strange voices coming out of it are freaking me out.

Coming up later: Eight Days of Awesome and the biggest little linkspam in the world.

*snuggles*

That would freak anyone out. As did me walking into my mother's bathroom years ago - and I do mean years, it's probably more than 20 - and hearing this faint, tinny voice speaking French. It turned out it was coming from her, very new, 'top of the range' behind the ear hearing aid!

It was like aliens were trying communicate with us or something. Also sometimes the light comes on with no sound, which is actually freakier.

Ah, the wonders of modern technology...

*g* I think I reach the point where I'm so sick of myself that I assume other people must be as well. *waves hands* It's a thing to go on the 'working on it' list.

HEE! I have to post the linkspam before my delicious account assplodes!

ETA: Should that have one 's' or 2? I thought 2 but it looks like I'm talking about an exploding donkey...

I use asplode as if it were a real and actual word, and with one s :D Because asses 'sploding is not pretty.

You mean it's not a real and actual word? What about 'splodey? Here's me thinking I just didn't know how to spell it...

If it isn't a real word in the real world, well, it's a staple in my family. I think that suffices?

My defence is usually "of course it's a word! I just used it!" If it wasn't a word, how would I be able to say it? ;)

Although, considering I have two kids who routinely use LOLspeak as normal language, and who quote Invader Zim and Futurama more than anything else, I suppose I shouldn't be the one to ask about what are or are not words? Maybe...

*hugs you* We are not fed up with you. Most of us (judging by my flist, anyway) are or have been going through variations of the same thing anyway, so we're probably the most sympathetic people there are to have around. :-)

I think I'm projecting at the moment - I'm fed up with *myself* so I assume everyone else must me.

These things will pass, at least that's what I keep telling myself :)

I started to say internet friends can be wonderfully patient (I appreciate that about them too) but it's probably true of people face to face as well.

::hugs::

Haunted radio sounds creepy!

Heh, I think internet friends can find it easier to be patient, and I definitely appreciate that :)

The haunted radio is the freakiest thing. I'm here on my own for two nights, so it's staying turned off at the plug!

If it comes on when it's unplugged, you'll *really* know something is up. But I'm sure that won't happen. If worse comes to worst, though, ask it if it's trying to communicate and how you can help it. *g*

And now I'm thinking of the biblical story of Samuel, and his mentor's advice when he was hearing voices: Just say, "Here I am, Lord!" :D

No need to apologise. Just because you've been a consistent blogger doesn't mean you have to remain one. times, seasons and what not.

Eeps! Read about your semi-faint! Glad you're resting at home now.

*nods* I know, I think I needed to remind *myself* that I'm going to work my way out of this, and that I can do better, and get better, if that makes sense. If it's written down, I find it harder to ignore.

Thanks *hugs back* I'm getting there :)

*big squishy hugs*

I probably should have mentioned this before, but I'm like one of those really annoying (but cute) puppies who follows you around everywhere and won't leave you alone even when you're having a bad day. So sorry, being whiny is not going to be sufficient to get rid of me :)

Heh, I think it's as much about telling *myself* that I'm not always like this as anything else. Sometimes I need to see the reminder and go 'huh, I do sometimes remember how to be happy'. I think that's good for me :)

*giggles* Sounds like your radio is suffering from power surges. It might help if you get one of those surge-protector extension cords and plugged it into that. We did the same with our plug-in doorbell - sometimes it would ring when no-one was there. Not only that, but it made the wrong noise, which had us suspecting that it was someone's mobile going off for ages.

As for the rest of it - don't worry. Livejournal is an excellent place to write down things that are getting you stressed, and I know it helps. Keep going, hon. We understand.

Would power surges apply if the radio itself is turned off? The button on the top is set to 'off', it just...turns on. I wondered if it could be a faulty button. So. Freaky.

Yeah, it helps me a lot - and writing it down like that here is a good reminder to me that I'm going to do better :)

I think they would . . . might be a combination of both. But I suspect power surges are the more immediate culprit. Depending on how your radio is wired, it could set up induction in the circuitry andthat would give it enough power to switch on . . . a bit like hot-wiring a car.

And you will do better. You're already doing a lot better, and you're doing something about it, which is even more heartening.

Hon, if you've been whiny I really haven't noticed.

Maybe it's my talent for oblivion or maybe I've just not heard it above my own prodigious whining.

Hmmm...maybe I made those entries private after all ;) Classic extrovert that I am, I only realised after I posted that this is really a reminder to me, that I can do cheerful and that things aren't always black clouds and misery. I just need to *see* it, because it gets lost in the confines of my own head, if that makes sense.

*leans* You guys are awesome, plus you bring the best icons *waves at Beaker*
