Drabbles offered to good homes
Apr. 13th, 2007 10:27 amI am immensely chuffed today as "Coming Back" has been recced on
crack_van. It's so lovely - the list is full of great writers and I always bounce to see my name among them! My Housefic "They Also Serve" was recced there a while back, so I'm feeling rather proud of myself :) Now all I have to do is write a Criminal Minds one to match them... ;)
In a burst of creativity, I'm offering drabbles/ficlets to all requestors. Any fandom (see my interests list), any pairing. I'm rather bouncy as The Wandering Years stopped wandering and started behaving themselves so come share the bounciness! I don't promise they'll be the same quality as
fallen_arazil's, but I can try. :)
Also,
rivers_bend told us to consider ourselves tagged...
1. I can play both the descant and the treble recorders (not at the same time) to a fairly decent standard.
2. I can't wash my hair in the shower because I've got horribly sensitive skin and the shampoo makes me itch.
3. I used to be able to say thank you in 45 languages. I think I'm down to about 25 now.
4. I can type around 80 words a minute.
5. Baked beans make me feel sick.
6. I own a Beanie Buddy duck called Mr Pond, who lives on my computer hard drive at work. He was a 21st birthday present.
Like river, I hate tagging people, but love random facts, so post away!

Date: 2007-04-13 01:31 pm (UTC)It's only a problem on mornings when I'm so tired that I end up pitching head first into the bath when I'm trying to bend over it to wash my hair!

Date: 2007-04-13 01:49 pm (UTC)I've rec'd conditioner-only washing to several people with dry skin with great success (I love what it does for my hair), but alas, that's not the problem here. I'll go away now.

Date: 2007-04-13 03:26 pm (UTC)Yep, I do. The surfactants in the conditioner are more than enough to get the hair clean and do not strip the natural oils away from the scalp. The instructions: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=9367
My variances and elaboration on the posted instructions:
1) Important not to use the expensive stuff--I'm talking the dollar (convert to the currency of your choice) a bottle conditioner. The more expensive brands are too heavy (especially for fine hair) and add up too quickly because you're using a lot more than usual (I have hair down to my mid-back and use a good handful daily). I'm in the States and use el cheapo Suave. I've heard White Rain also works well. Works best if you add a little water to thin it too.
2) I don't use a shower cap or bag like the author does. But with shorter hair it would probably be easier. (I have enough hair that it stays put in a knot on top of my head.)
3) And I certainly don't rinse for the two minutes she recommends! Twenty seconds usually. While rinsing take care to work all the conditioner out, though. Make sure the water runs clear! Otherwise there's still product in the hair and it will be weighed down and feel greasy later.
And a drabble... you know what I like. ;) I know you don't write explicit, but a little Jack/Ianto flirtage wouldn't go amiss.

"Could I ask you not to do that, sir?"
"What?"
Ianto glanced over his shoulder, giving Jack an exasperated look. "Smell my hair."
"I didn't!" Jack said, grinning unapologetically. "I just happened to inhale within proximity of your head. But now you mention it..." Jack sniffed, leaning close enough that Ianto could feel warm breath in his ear.
"Jack," he said warningly.
"Can I help it if your shampoo renders you irresistible?"
"Control yourself."
"Make me."
Jack stepped backwards quickly as Ianto waved the bottle of sink cleaner under his nose.
"Next time, wait until I've got my hands free!"
