Fandom Snowflake Challenge banner 2018

I love today’s challenge! I’ve legit been waiting for this one. I love lists and making plans and reflecting on what has worked and how new things might work better. Which, is strange for a procrastinator like myself.

But lists give my life order. Goals give me clear, direct things to work towards. And sometimes they even get accomplished. Sometimes..

I also love that this challenge is happening now, almost two weeks into the challenge. We’ve had time to reflect, to get excited about things again, to reconnect with our fandom selves and the people who are in it with us. We know what we want and we have a clearer sense of what it would take to accomplish and if we have it in us to get it done. WOOOOOT!

Day 13:
In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

And remember, the first thing on any To Do List, and Goals list is “Make List” that way you almost immediately have one thing to cross off! Such a great start.

I've done a personal version of this (locked), but I have a fannish goals list too:

1. Participate in more fests. I love deadlines, I like meeting people, I like collaborations. So I'm looking out for Big Bangs, Pod_Together, any fests at all that might get my brain going in one way or another. Last year, I spotted half of them far too late to take part, so I'm going to be watching like a hawk this year.

2. Learn to speak Tumblr better. Critical Role fandom in particular is mostly Tumblr-based, and it's a platform I find very, very hard to navigate. But I got a lot better at in 2017 by just plain being braver, so time for more of that as the new campaign gets going.

3. Sort out the back catalogue. There's fic and podfic all over the place, in my journal and on my computer. It would be good to get it all archived properly on AO3 and organised properly on my computer.

4. Leave more feedback. I think that's something most people have been saying they'd like to do better at, and it goes well with my general goal of talking to more people.

5. Consume more media. Yes, really. I spent most of 2017 with old favourites, as my brain felt too sensitive for many new things. The only new thing I really dipped into was Marvel Netflix, but even then, it was more a continuation of having enjoyed Daredevil. In 2018, I want to try new things to see if I like them. Everything from books people are recommending to the music everyone recommended to me. Time to stretch myself a bit.

Whatever your 2018 goals, may your deadlines be manageable, your collaborators considerate, and your commenters plentiful ♥

Great list! I'd love to participate in more fests again myself (but I keep telling myself not to, because I have too many of my own ideas to work on, hah!) Good luck with getting everything done! :D

That's what I do for challenges like 1-million-words' weekend challenge. I mean, how do you determine that an exchange can help you work on ideas you already have? I haven't had any luck in that department so far, lol.

I hadn't heard of 1-million-words. What a fab idea! I've got too much in my queue at the moment to gather more prompts (that's the last thing I need. really.) but it looks awesome.
I know what you mean! I've recently compiled a spreadsheet of all my unfilled bingo prompts and it is long. But I like to combine prompts and what works for me about 1mw's weekend challenge is that you get a random prompt or several without having to pick one yourself. It's a low pressure community, so I can just ask for a prompt, check if it fits any of my million ideas, and if it doesn't, I can just leave it.

These are such marvelous goals. And that bit of well-wishery at the end is so sweet. May you and your year be blessed thus also. :D

I share a lot of these. Actually, except for not having a back catalogue to sort out (well, not fic; I need to sort out my photography backlog), the rest of them are things I want to do as well.
