EDIT: Slightly overwhelmed by response (*sniff* I love you guys ;)) and lack of LJ notifications...*grrr*

Also, clicked on spoiler pictures. Brain exploded. Must clean up mess before I go home. Squeeing all the way.

How long to Saturday?

Will reply to everyone in the morning, scout's honour :)

Ooh, while I think of it, I'm planning on having an icon shuffle over the next few days, so if random pictures turn up in your journals, it's probably me being indecisive as usual...

I did one of these a while back, but they're always entertaining, and I've met some of you guys since then. Plus I'm nosy and I have to stay late at work - entertain me, people! ;) Picked up from [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako.

I want to know 28 things about you. I don't care if we've never talked, never liked each other, or if we already know everything about each other. I really don't. I'm curious about who's on my list and who has me on theirs. What kind of people share this odd non-space with each other, hm?

5. Mozart's Clarinet Quintet
6. Glenn Miller (and his orchestra...)
7. Clean
8. None
9. No
10. Everything will work out. Eventually.

14. Chocolate.
15. I've won prizes for translation contests. Three times, though never first place.

17. I doubt the geography permits it easily, but otherwise I don't see why not.
18. the UK

I am right there with you in the "hey, y'all, entertain me!" category.

1. Your Middle Name: Leigh. Pronounced "Lay", don't ask me what my parents were smoking. (And point of non-interest...that is my real middle name, but the rest of it? Not real at all. Had problems with a scary guy a few years back, and now don't use my real name for internet or e-mail or anything.)
2. Age: 33
3. Single or Taken: Taken! But I'd totally cheat for John Barrowman. (Did anybody NOT ALREADY know that?)
4. Favorite Movie: I have to narrow it down to one? Can't. I love the Lord of the Rings movies; also "While You Were Sleeping".
5. Favorite Song or Album: Changes every five minutes. Currently "Voodoo Child" by Rogue Traders.
6. Favorite Band/Artist: Also changes every five minutes. Currently the Beatles. Ask me these two next week and I guarantee you'll get a different answer.
7. Dirty or Clean: Squeaky.
8. Tattoos and/or Piercings: None. See #7.
9. Do we know each other outside of LJ? Unfortunately not.
10. What's your philosophy on life? When I figure that one out, I'll let you know. Overall, I'm in favor of it.
11. Is the bottle half-full or half-empty? It's half-full of liquid and half-full of air.
12. Would you keep a secret from me if you thought it was in my best interest? Depends on the secret. I'm not much in favor of keeping things quiet that people need to know.
13. What is your favorite memory of us? I think one of the highlights was the Jack-mpreg crack thread.
14. What is your favorite guilty pleasure? Offline...a stack of Oreos and milk. Online...h/c fic, involving Jack if at all possible. (There's not nearly enough good h/c fic involving Jack.)
15. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you: I can solve a Rubik's cube.
16. You can have three wishes (for yourself, so forget all the 'world peace etc' malarkey) - what are they? 1) To be able to quit my job and stay home with my kids. 2) To be able to move somewhere that doesn't suck in crime ratings, school ratings, air quality ratings, poverty ratings, and every other rating in the book. 3) To be able to eat anything I want without gaining weight.
17. Can we get together and bake a cake? I'll need a passport. And a boxed mix.
18. Which country is your spiritual home? I love the USA, but if I didn't live here I'd choose England.
19. What is your big weakness? Which one? I have several. I'm pessimistic, I have very little patience, I have no self-confidence, I'm shy...I can talk for a long time, a very long time...
20. Do you think I'm a good person? Yes.
21. What was your best/favorite subject at school? English. Literature, not grammar.
22. Describe your accent: Amurrican Su'thun. The kind of accent that gets 20 points automatically taken off your IQ when people hear it. I tend to pick up the accent of whoever I'm around, though.
23. If you could change anything about me, would you? I'd make you write faster. :D
24. What do you wear to sleep? Nightshirt and warm-up pants.
25. Trousers or skirts? WAHAHAHAHAHA!...oh, I'm sorry, you were serious.
26. Cigarettes or alcohol? Neither, thanks.
27. If I only had one day to live, what would we do together? (If you have no idea, just say something crazy, it'll entertain me!) We'd go find John Barrowman (or your guy of choice) and POUNCE. Show them no mercy!
28. Will you repost this so I can fill it out for you? Sure, why not?

16. 3)Clothes that are actually cut to *my* figure and don't wear out within the year.
Oh yes! So glad that's not just a UK thing :D

19. I'd be the world's greatest procrastinator if I ever got around to it.

It's so reassuring when your friends are as daft as you are.

I think one of the highlights was the Jack-mpreg crack thread.
That one's going to linger. ;)

I'll need a passport. And a boxed mix.
I have a passport, but no idea what a boxed mix is...

I'd make you write faster.
Look, I type 80 words a minute. How much faster do you want?

The kind of accent that gets 20 points automatically taken off your IQ when people hear it.
It's the only US accent that I can even approximate, so I like it :)

A cake mix, that comes in a box? Where you just add milk and eggs and stir? What do you call it?

I can't cook at all. :(

Look, I type 80 words a minute. How much faster do you want?

A novel-length Jack story per day. (Well, you did ask...)

*snort* I'd love to hear you approximating a Southern accent. You should do a voicepost! And you know there are umpteen regional variations. It always irks me when a character who allegedly comes from Louisiana is speaking backwoods Georgian on TV. Even in Louisiana there are several. The NOLA accent (AKA the "Yat") is way different from anywhere else, for instance. Then there's the Cajuns...

Go on then *rolls eyes*

1. Maria
2. 29
3. Taken
4. Oh loads, but I'll go with Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
5. Varies with mood...um...Zombie by The Cranberries
6. Pet Shop Boys
7. *blink* Dirty or clean what? (that probably answers the question...)
8. Two piercings in each ear lobe
9. Does Facebook count? And email...but not really
10. Regret nothing - every decision you make was the right decision at that time, even if you would have done it differently with hindsight
11. Usually half full, even on my darkest days
12. It would depend on the magnitude of the secret. If it was something about your relationship or people you love, no I wouldn't hide it, but if it was about something unimportant, then maybe
13. Probably the first time you betad for me and we ended up discussing the moving of dead bodies... I knew then we were going to get along :D
14. Watching America's/Canada's/Britain's Next Top Model
15. I can play the clarinet, the saxophone, the guitar and the cello, in that order of proficiency.
16. Health, long life, good friends
17. Yes, that would be nice; I enjoy baking. But we'd have to use your oven cos mine is electric and only has too settings - raw or burnt
18. Hmm. I've always been drawn to Canada, even though I've never been there. Out of the countries I've visited? Um... I like them all for different reasons, so I can't choose. OK, Sweden
19. Self-doubt
20. You seem to be
21. I was best at English, but my favourite was Music
22. English University - that curious mix of Home Counties, my original accent, and general Northern
23. Nope, you're adorable as you are
24. Nada
25. Depends on mood/weather, but mostly skirts
26. Alcohol
27. I'd take you up Snowdon (on the funicular railway, the footpath, or scrambling, depending on what you were dying of). Then once we got back down into Llanberis at the foot of the mountain, I'd take you into Pete's Eats, who do ginormous mugs of tea and coffee, and we could just sit and chat and watch the world go by (and by that I mean other walkers/climbers). After that I'd take you back to Bangor, and we could sit on the pier watching the sun set over the Menai Straits and Anglesey (stunningly beautiful). We could end the day in Bangor Cathedral if you liked, listening to choral music.
28. Possibly...

Well, this sounds like a lot of fun, and I'm bored and wet from having dug trenches in the garden to avoid the house flooding. Pretty pointless really, since it's probably going to anyway.

Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations. And, finally, here are some completely gratuitous pictures of penises to annoy the censors and to hopefully spark some sort of controversy..."

Packet mix, usually. Or just point. I love cooking - the other half's a fantastic cook, but I make better cakes ;)

You should do a voicepost!
APPROXIMATE. I usually get three words in and have to give up *sigh* I have a total tin ear for accents. One of the funniest things about trying to read Gambit-fic was always the accent. Trying to strike a balance between 'gets across the flavour of the Cajun accent' and 'unintelligible when written down' is tricky, mostly because the people writing had often never heard an actual Cajun accent. Me? I'm research girl. I got a DVD from the library :)

Since I started writing/reading DW/TW fanfic, not so much. It appeals to the engineer in me to go with the word or phrase that is more universally understood and causes the least amount of confusion. 'Trousers' means the same in both US and UK English. 'Pants' does not.

Butting in. Hope ya don't mind.
You too? I definitely get more Southern when dealing with my husband. And a good deal more English when I'm fanning. ;)
You know? I do the same thing, and so does my bro. Maybe it has something to do with the Midwest's lack of an 'accent' per se, but if I spend more than a few hours listening to a specific accent, it starts to bleed into mine. (And god have I got to stop watching/listening to David Tennant before work, 'cause I can't do Scottish to save my life. Gets me strange looks for the first hour or so before it fades.) I even know someone who moved to Georgia from here a few years back, and she sounds more southern than the natives now.
