jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Random - River looking down)
You know, the next person to tell me that Britain has a temperate climate is going to get a ding alongside the earhole.

*shakes water out of brain*

Good lord, it's wet this morning. [livejournal.com profile] white_hart, did you get caught in it? I was seriously contemplating going back for my snorkel.

As you might be able to tell, I'm starting to come out of my post-holiday funk and feel like posting and chatting and generally resuming something close to my general posting schedule, i.e. frequent, verbose and random. This is being helped by new fandom enthusiasm (I'm crushing hard on Criminal Minds right now and cannot wait to watch the next episode, knowing that I've still got 1 1/2 series to catch up on \o/ Expect more soon...) and a vague sense that I know where my current WIP wants to go.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] general_jinjur, who is of the awesome, has done it again and started a project that pushes every one of my fan-buttons. Last time it was [livejournal.com profile] amplificathon. This time it's [livejournal.com profile] in_a_name

the in_a_name appellathon - because one doesn't have to be the loneliest number - prompt: jan 26-feb 4 and post mar 20-29

All characters in any fandom who share a name are eligible for this appellathon. Prompts will open on 26th January, and posting of fanworks (of any kind whatsoever) will be March 20-29th. There's a wiki here to help you with inspiration, and full details of what on earth I'm talking about are here. I had said I'd only participate in 3 challenges this year, but this is the kind of thing I've been interested in for a while, so I might have to add one more to the list...

Also, don't forget [livejournal.com profile] that_other_show

People are starting to talk over there, so do head in and see what's going on!

And because I love teasing you, and I know you love them some more Morocco pictures )

I am here, honest. I'm just working like a crazy woman (almost caught up \o/) and obsessing about Criminal Minds. Last time around, I dropped out of the fandom after one season. This time, I've got a lot of catching up to do and am loving gorging myself on the whole of S2 in one go. Three episodes to go! I have no idea if I'll be inspired to write again, but I have a vague sort of plot bunny lurking at the back of my brain. Er. Anyone browsing my delicious account, that's what the 'Russian roulette' links are for, I swear. It's a suprsingly difficult topic to find out about...

Anyhoo, in lieu of actual content, have some more Morocco photos. Realistically, normal service will not be resumed until next week, so if y'all could just talk amongst yourselves until then, I'd be much obliged.

More Morocco! )

Since I worked an 8.30-8.15 day yesterday, I'm sadly no closer to having a full Morocco report for you.

But I do have some links:

[livejournal.com profile] that_other_show is a new comm set up by [livejournal.com profile] rivers_bend as a space for talking about shows you enjoy and want to squee about to other people, but you're not necessarily creatively-fannish about. Since I have a long, long list of these, I've joined and encourage everyone to do the same.

[livejournal.com profile] sticksandsnark have opened this year's Rodney/Teyla thingathon, which I may or may not take part in, as scheduling and inspiration allow. Sign-ups close 30th January.

[livejournal.com profile] purimgifts is also open for this year's fic gift exchange, with sign-ups here, closing on 22nd January. I had to drop out last year, and probably won't be able to sign up this year, but the variety of stories is truly staggering and well worth looking out for.

On a post that will spoil you hugely for "Vegas", [livejournal.com profile] bironic has written the most inspired piece of *cough* fannish Shakespeare. Genius.

One thing I did manage to read on holiday was [livejournal.com profile] greyias's SGA Big Bang entry, See No Evil. Run, don't walk, to read this fic. Yes, it's long, but it's fast-paced and I was so caught up that I wouldn't have complained if it had been twice the length. I also convinced my other half to read it, and he loved it too! Cut for enthusiastic babbling )

And just because I can, A few pictures from the Atlas mountains )
