*prods flist*

Anyone alive out there? It's all gone quiet... Well, apart from on the building site next door where it sounds like they're banging Thor's hammer against the scaffolding.

But the sun is shining, I got my Latin fic done, I cracked and bought myself 'real' coffee so I don't have to drink fairtrade instant any more (*shudder*), I'm reading some fun genfics over at [livejournal.com profile] sga_genficathon*, there is hope on the horizon, my Big Bang story is coalescing into something writable, and Virgin radio are playing "Two Princes" which makes me feel 16 again. (they've followed it up with an hour of awesome tunes *sings quietly to self while dancing in chair*) ETA: Ooh, also, I'm happy because we've belated realised that Hotel Babylon is brilliant and fun and something we both like, and has Lucy Saxon in! We're so going to have to find the first two series now.

What's making you happy today?

Also - people who have friended me lately, drop in and say hello! I have coffee (see above) and biscuits and would love to meet you properly :) Tell me something random about yourself. What's your favourite ice-cream flavour? What's the craziest colour you've ever dyed your hair? Crunchy or smooth peanut butter? Is the glass half-full or half-empty? Superman or Batman? And lots of other questions...

Geez...can you tell I'm bored?

*Go have a read! Author guessing is now open :D

Wiki definition of biscuits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biscuit). Generally speaking, they're crisper than cookies, but not as sweet as crackers. I think it's to do with the flour/fat ratio. Or something... Because we have both (we call larger, squidgier baked goods 'cookies' now), it's hard to explain!

*grin* Nothing sickening about it - I love it when happy posts crop up over my flist. Always makes me smile :D

Oh, so wait, maybe I did get it right? According to that wikipedia entry, American biscuits are really weird. When we say biscuit in Hebrew (pronounced biskveet, like you're from Transylvania), we generally mean Petit Beurre biscuits. Or something like these (http://www.lotusbakeries.com/FrontOffice/BasePage.aspx?Control=Speculoos), which I thin I will have right now because all this talk has awakened my taste buds.

Are those what you guys mean too?

Yes! That's exactly what we mean by biscuits. My absolute favourites are digestives (http://www.amazon.com/Mcvities-Digestives-Dark-Chocolate-300g/dp/B000EZUBVE), which are best if you dip them in tea (PG Tips (http://www.pgtips.co.uk/teas/) ;)). It's a real skill - you have to get the timing right so that the chocolate melts but the biscuit doesn't just drop off when you lift it. My understanding is that US biscuits are mostly eaten with savoury stuff, but I get confused at that point...

Okay, so the Americans are the weird guys! Awesome. World-view fixed. (But why did have to call your biscuits "digestives"? Could they not think of a more unappealing name?)

We don't have PG Tips here. I usually buy Wissotzky's, although my current favorite is Lipton's.
