Anyone alive out there? It's all gone quiet... Well, apart from on the building site next door where it sounds like they're banging Thor's hammer against the scaffolding.

But the sun is shining, I got my Latin fic done, I cracked and bought myself 'real' coffee so I don't have to drink fairtrade instant any more (*shudder*), I'm reading some fun genfics over at sga_genficathon*, there is hope on the horizon, my Big Bang story is coalescing into something writable, and Virgin radio are playing "Two Princes" which makes me feel 16 again. (they've followed it up with an hour of awesome tunes *sings quietly to self while dancing in chair*) ETA: Ooh, also, I'm happy because we've belated realised that Hotel Babylon is brilliant and fun and something we both like, and has Lucy Saxon in! We're so going to have to find the first two series now.

Also - people who have friended me lately, drop in and say hello! I have coffee (see above) and biscuits and would love to meet you properly :) Tell me something random about yourself. The sun is shining, the open air pool at the gym is open for the next however many months, and it's Girls' Night Out in London for me tonight... and among other things making me happy, I have tickets for the Vanity Fair exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, and the Cranach exhibition at the Royal Academy a week on Saturday!

Hello! Let's see...it's sunny, I'm taking half a day off revision (living dangerously here *g*), I get to go back to university in just over a week and I have a smooth peanut butter sandwich! Also, I'm looking up more poetry for poetry month. Life is good right now :)

When we got into revision season, our tutors gave us very stern advice:

"Don't work more than 5-6 hours a day, and make sure you do your washing and get some sleep."

That's the kind of advice I can live with :)

So, what exactly do you mean when you say "biscuits"? (When I was a kid and read the British books, I could never understand why everyone kept eating sweet crackers all the time, like the kind you'd feed a figurative parrot.)

Wiki definition of biscuits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biscuit). Generally speaking, they're crisper than cookies, but not as sweet as crackers. I think it's to do with the flour/fat ratio. Or something... Because we have both (we call larger, squidgier baked goods 'cookies' now), it's hard to explain!

I couldn't resist the real coffe offer! What's making me happy... hmm.. I'm off to see my best friend who's just come back from Afghan on Friday. Can't wait! I'm getting a little squee-y to be honest :D

Random fact about me: Up until four months ago I hadn't seen a single episdoe of SG1 or SGA. I've now seen all SG1 (including the new film thing ;) ) and I'm up to half way of season 2 SGA. How did I miss out on this before? I just have no idea!

Ooh and I always think the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Woah. that's a lot of SG1! I've seen up to the start of S7 and keep meaning to catch up, but I was one of the few people who really, really liked Jonas, so I kind of stopped watching on principle. I should catch up though.

S3 of SGA got a bit silly, although there are some stand-out episodes. S4 is beyond awesome - enjoy!

I'm not new, but here's some completely random:

I have 39,239 posted words of fic.

However, I have 79,727 unposted words. *hides under bed*

Those are from 21 stories total, although ten of those probably are unpostable anyway and are being worked on (when at all) strictly for my own amusement. Eleven of them are workable and of those, probably four or five are really pulling at me right now.

Twelve are Doctor Who/Torchwood, eight are Due South, and there's one TW/DS crossover.

I dunno what to do next.

Which Jasper Fforde are you reading? I loved 'The Eyre Affair' and the first 'Nursery Crimes' one, but couldn't get on so well with the others.

Making me happy today: puddles and wellies! Non-tornadic storm systems. The promise of tea and a snuggly cat and stuffed animals when I get home, and if I finish grading papers in time, knitting with really soft silky yarn.

ETA: also making me happy - I finally marked out some time to practice reading podfic. It's going to take a lot more practice, and I'm not entirely satisfied with my tech setup, but I had an epiphany about the reading itself. :)

I was having my usual cup on Tuesday morning and just thought "why am I drinking this? it's terrible!". The real stuff may be more expensive, but at least it doesn't make me want to go wash my mouth out afterwards...
