But why is the squee gone?
Jun. 30th, 2008 07:54 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I am starting to think that there is only a finite amount of squee in the universe.
fandom_me and
fan_eunice both have theirs back, as do various other members of my flist. Mine has vanished. Not that I didn't enjoy Doctor Who, I just...can't find the squee.
I know why, I know there's nothing I can do about it, and I know that having hayfever like flu isn't helping, but damnit I want the happy. I don't want to cry at my desk or a WWII documentary or a trailer for the Olympics.
*stamps foot*
Enough crying. More happy please.
#1. Where was Jenny? Have I just missed all the posts asking about her? Because seriously, the hand getting its own close up at the beginning, not bubbling was all kinds of significant.
#2. I'm 99.9% sure (and have done extensive rewatching, purely for research, of course) that the gun Jack's got there? That's his Gamestation gun. You know how I said I was looking for my squee? Fic about that would make me 10 kinds of happy *flutters eyelashes*
ETA3:#2a. Yup, that's the one (thanks
aeron_lanart!). Also, Fic! as requested, with thanks to Becky!
My vote for 'most faithful companion' still goes for Rose. As much as I'd like it to be one of the others, this is RTD's world, and so I'm voting it's Rose. Also, clear evidence of skewed priorities? The thing I'm most looking forward to in the next episode: Donna and Jack in the same room. Oh yes.
Huh. There's some of my squee. Anyone care to provide me with more?
ETA: Of course, when all else fails, there's always icanhascheezburger to make me smile
ETA2: *blinks*
torchwood_three links to this journal. I don't mind, I just didn't know. Huh. If I'd known I would have tidied up around here first. *hides washing up*
ETA4: (3 is under the cut, and yes, it's one of those days...) The Times headline: So if it isn't bug eat bug, what is it that's killing the honey bees

Date: 2008-06-30 07:08 am (UTC)My perfect solution to the "faithful companion/everlasting death" thing would be Jack being stripped of his immortality, therefore developing the ability to die at a later date. Not gonna hold my breath, but you know.
I'm not sure if Jenny will show up for the finale or not. It's pretty jam-packed, but I'd love to see the Doctor and Sarah Jane chat about sudden parenthood.

Date: 2008-06-30 08:12 am (UTC)I...sort of like the mortal!Jack idea, but one of the things that defines the character for me is that sense of loss, that he'll go on while the others don't, so I'm not sure about that...
The finale's ridiculously jam-packed, but I can still see Jenny swooping in at the last minute to save the say somehow. Also, if the three themes of the season are 'Donna's special', 'missing planets' and 'children', I can't think of a better way to finish the last one off!
*checks watch* Damn. Still got a 6 days to go...

Date: 2008-06-30 07:22 am (UTC)DO NOT want Jack to lose his immortality.
And yes, that *was* the game station gun - I had a much closer look when I watched it last night on the TV rather than the computer - his only memento of the Doctor that he was able to take with him... no fic from me about it - or not yet anyway though I can cogitate.
Ianto and Gwen being awesome; that made me squee, even though I thought it was rather sad... going down fighting "Like Owen, like Tosh" and telling Jack to go, and that they'd be ok even though I'm sure they're expecting not to be.

Date: 2008-06-30 08:15 am (UTC)With you totally on Jack's immortality, and thanks for the confirmation :) It gave me the biggest grin EVER :D
Ianto and Gwen were wonderful, pitch perfect, every moment. (well mostly - Ianto laughing stupidly at Paul O'Grady jarred but it was great apart from that). And at least now I'm convinced there's going to be a reset because, hey, TW S3!

I also need to rewatch this one because I seem to have missed quite a lot. Including most of what Dalek Caan was saying... *g*
