I'm not really here, honest. Just dropping 3 quick things then running off to have a real life while the sun is shining.
#1. We're going to Morocco! We've booked our flights to Marrakech *happy dance* Anyone who wants to recommend things to do is more than welcome to! Can't wait :D

artword Round Robin stories are going up over the next few days. I added the ending, title and summary to Lost In Communication, and will be advertising the one I kicked off once it's up. Which should be soon, so advance apologies for spamming. The whole round robin thing was a mixed blessing - I don't regret taking part, but it wasn't the easiest fic fest I've ever signed up for. Doesn't mean it wasn't worth it though - writing outside my comfort zone is definitely good for me - and I can't plug artword enough!

#3. My NaNo is dead. I'm alright with that, because it just wouldn't have worked. I'll probably give it a few days to settle, then go and start something completely new. My main problem is working out what I want to say about my main character. I can't write to plot, and I can't just write a character. I have to want to say something about him/her/them, and that's what I'm not sure about right now. I'll figure it out, but it's going to take me a little while.

Date: 2008-11-09 07:51 pm (UTC)I'm finding that I'm having to go back to first principles with the character and working out how he and the story work together, if that makes sense. Not just "who is he?" but "if he's like this, what does that do for the story?" and "if I want to show this, who does he have to be?" It's long and frustrating but probably worth it.
You mostly won't see me at the NaNo meets because I can't make them! I'm in London for the next two Saturdays. Maybe I'll come to the very last one to celebrate/commiserate ;)
