I'd try to up your boredom threshhold.
*grin* I'm not that bad, honest. But my LJ tends to be the first place I come when I'm bored. Also, my brain works like a cross between a butterfly and a magpie (butterpie?), in that it's always flitting between different shiny things. :)

Yes, Neil Gaiman, really! The dinner was a work-related thing around the time of the publication of Anansi Boys (there are some fringe benefits to working in the book trade!) and involved a bizarre but very posh London restaurant (chicken and lavender risotto...a startlingly good combination, I recall). We spent a happy evening discussing Victorian children's literature with specific reference to a really spooky Victorian story called 'The Other Mother' which was the partial inspiration for Neil's children's book, Coraline. Which I insist you read *immediately* if you haven't already done so, it's the scariest thing I've ever read.

The best bit came later when Neil subsequently name checked me on his blog and all the cool young guys in the office turned *green* with jealousy...made my year, I can tell you!
