I agree that Spidey 2 and Batman were good movies, but they were far less to my taste, and far less to my taste than the average issue of the comics about either character, much less the really good stories by the best writers.

The Bourne Identity was surprisingly good, though I don't think I will ever really like Matt Damon, languages notwithstanding.

I haven't really read much of the Spidey *or* Batman comics (I've read The Dark Knight Returns, but that's it. I'm more the Sandman and Hellblazer type..) I suppose that does influence the way I look at and enjoy those movies.

As for liking or not liking Matt Damon, that's all to personal taste, of course...

Being a passionate lover of comics, I find it a little frustrating how movie and TV productions don't do justice to the comics - they always make them more exaggerated and less complex. The truth is, I don't really like filmed versions of comics - with the exception of 300, Sin City (both special cases, and brilliant), Heroes and Unbreakable. Though I also think that Spider-Man and Batman are in themselves such wonderful and iconic characters that it's hard for their quality not to show through even the most badly-made movie. Of course, due to the ingenuity of producers, they have managed to do this on occasion.

I have mixed feelings about The Dark Knight Returns - as about all Frank Miller's Batman work. I was thinking of stories like The Long Halloween and Hush.

I did love The Bourne Identity and look forward to the coming Bourne movie.
