I'm stuck in work today, which is rotten when it's sunny and nice outside. We've been really short-staffed this week, so I've had to spend too much time down on the main desk, where I can't do any of my own work. Consequently, my desk looks like an explosion in a bookshop. The aim of the day is to get rid of everything with an outstanding invoice. I shall be accompanied by "Isabella, she-wolf of France, queen of England" by Alison Weir on CD and the sound of drilling from the site next door.

So if you want to drop in and say hi, leave me a fic, a rec, a joke or anything else, I'd love to see you. I'm going to post fic to heretoutopia at some point and maybe some of the book reviews I've been pondering. I also appear to have started building a fictional world, which was unexpected but is turning out to be surprisingly fun. We shall see what happens.

13. What is your fondest memory of me?...When you commented on my Jack/Master NC-17 fic. Mostly because it made me blink and stare and then giggle and GRIN A LOT.
14. If you could change anything about yourself what would it be? I'd lose some of the social anxiety. Or, you know, all of it.
15. Would you cheat ? No. I'd take short cuts, and I'm not monogamous, but I've very honest about all of it.

It's a gorgeous day here, too, but I'm lucky enough to be able to make arrangements to do my work outdoors later. I hope you get a lot done and the drilling stops, at least!

13. What is your fondest memory of me? You wrote me a ficlet I requested once? "Fond memories" are for people who have known each other for years, I think. :) But that is a fond memory.

23. If you could bring back anyone that has passed, who would it be? Hmmm. I used to have a dog I really miss. But I've learned from Jack Harkness that people might appreciate staying dead, so I think I'd leave the dead alone.
24. Tell me one interesting/odd fact about you? There are so many odd things to choose from, but I'll go with (maybe) interesting. From ages 4 to 7 I lived in Scotland with my family, and when we moved back to the States I didn't remember much from my first four years, so I felt like a foreign transplant. The Southern accents were especially strange!
25. What was your first impression of me? You're very gracious.
26. Have you ever done drugs? Hahahahaha. No. I was so "good" as a youngster that I wouldn't have even known where to get them. And now I just don't see the point.

I love these kinds of things, for finding out more about people. I meet quite a lot of new people through fic but it's good to know more about them. It means that when my other half calls you all my 'imaginary friends' I can point at the answers and go "look! people!"

I think most of my friends have been found through my stories, or my reading of their stories, so it becomes hard to remember how I met them. But you all entertain me on a daily basis, so I'm not complaining! ;)

I like that very much, too. Not that they said anything, but I know my parents had serious qualms when I first started hanging out with "internet people." ("Imaginary friends," hee!) But now they've met several of the people I know originally from the internet, and if I can talk about them in terms of real names and real lives ("My friend Julia is a teacher in [X City], and she was just saying that..."), they're much more comfortable. Plus, now I have some very good friends with whom "real life"/internet lines have ceased to be meaningful at all. It is good.

Fictional world-building--that sounds interesting! Last night in my sleep I created a store-front embassy for a country on a tiny budget. I didn't just dream about it, I planned everything and could see it as I did it--offices there, kitchen there, bathrooms over yonder, storage closet (I was very proud of remembering to include storage) back behind there, and extra beds (just in case there's an Incident and they have to temporarily shelter their citizens, of which there aren't many over here, fortunately, because did I mention it's teeny?) right behind there.

But I've never done anything like that on a grand scale. Or, you know, while conscious. :D

I have three - a leaping deer (left upper arm:copy of one from the Pazyryk Ice-maiden), an Eye of Horus (left shoulderblade: watches my back), and a buzzard (across my hips: I have a friend who lives on the Wye Valley and absolutely every time I go there, I am *buzzed* by at least one buzzard. You can only go down Golden Valley in a car full of witches being buzzed by buzzards for so long before someone starts muttering about totem animals)

Mntally I stopped at about 12-14, I think. I've always maintained that I'll never notice when I enter my second childhood as I'm still in my first!

Wristwatch thing is irritating, as I have no sense of time whatsoever. I can wear a pendant watch, keep a fob watch in my pocket - or could until it was stolen *grrr*, and wear one of those nurse-type brooches with no problems. Stick it on my wrist and it's 'hello, Grim Reaper' time for the watch. Localised biomagnetic fields, anyone?

13. What is your fondest memory of me? That your icon is often a flower when it appears on my flist. It looks incongruous next to the smut. Makes me feel almost guilty, but is so pretty.

24. Tell me one interesting/odd fact about you? I fancy Ed Byrne, and can do (fairly bad) American and Essex accents. Also, I used to live in Oxford! And I like Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
25. What was your first impression of me? That it was a little strange to have a random number in your username - I thought you were a chav, and clicked on the fic link with much trepidation...it was worth it, you'll be pleased to know.
26. Have you ever done drugs? Alcohol but nowt stronger. Mainly cause the only ones I would know how to get are weed and cigarettes and the smells of both make me wretch.

4. Eat with your hands or utensils? It depends what I'm eating and who I'm with - if I have to pretend to be charming, I use utensils, if I'm home alone I'm my usual less-than-elegant self.

9. We're alive for only a few decades at best, while death lasts forever. Therefore, there's no point being afraid of death or denying the reality of it.
10. If you could do anything with me, and have no one know, what would it be? Hmmm, I'm not sure! I can't think of anything I'd particularly want to keep secret, but I think we'd have a great time eating lots of chocolate and talking books/movies/tv for a while.

26. Have you ever done drugs? Yes, I smoked pot when I was younger, and really didn't see what the big deal was, it just made me tired. I've also been drugged against my will, and that wasn't fun either.
