Just to get this out to people who might not have heard it yet:

Livejournal has a security breach that's messing with the privacy of content as well as inserting Flash content into your post. Full details here: Meta-LJ. For now, your best bet is to re-set your password, log out completely then log back in again.

Stay safe, folks!

Thank you so much for last night guys. Recently, I've been getting the prods I need to get myself sorted out, so I'm going to try to get on that really soon.

Today I have been awesome because I have done the ironing. I HATE ironing.

And because I always do what my flist tells me to, allow me to promote:

International Fannish Feel Yourself Up Day

Gals, if you're not checking for lumps on a regular basis, get right on that. Quickly, please. Too many folks I know are being hit by cancer right now. This one's for [livejournal.com profile] fan_eunice, who's just starting to fight this sucker. And Guys, keep an eye (or, you know, hand) on the relevant parts of your anatomy too, okay? (that means armpits too - lymphoma's actually more common in men) You find anything, you go right to the doctor's, you hear me? I don't care if you think it's nothing. I don't care if you think you're being stupid. That's a helluva lot better than the alternatives. Go.

Other things roll on apace, including my growing love for Supernatural. You guys who promised me recs, I think I'm ready for them now (I'm up to 2.08 "Crossroad Blues" so no major spoily fics, tx). I'd particularly like podfic recs if you have them, since I'm about to spend a while on trains and away from home, and could use good fic to listen to. I know the stuff on my Zen practically off by heart by now.

ETA: Okay, please could more people with microphones start recording in the Gen category? Please? Because it's getting embarrassing to click on the Torchwood:Gen category and have to scroll past all the fics I recorded. I mean, I recorded them because I love them, but it's weird listening to your own voice...

So that's two ways you can be awesome for me today. How else have you been awesome?

Ah well, you guys may as well benefit from my ablutionary mishaps.

WARNING: Hot baths, good. Poaching yourself, bad.

It's funny, but the other half and I were talking about lobsters last night...
[the icon is an approximate representation of current skin colour. anyone got a fan?]

Also, I am drabble writing, have 2 fics to beta, and comm stuff to prod, but I'm all restless and mopey and seem drawn to angst-fic. This is BAD and is going to lead to me crying on the other half's shoulder for reasons that I can't hope to explain to him.

Anyone read any happy fic lately? Apart from Z (I'm halfway through!)? I'll take anything in the Whoniverse, Stargate-verse (yes, any), House (ditto) and at this point, I'll also take due South and SPN (no Wincest, thanks). Just...something to make me smile.

*flutters eyelashes* Please?

I wouldn't normally do this, but I know my flist spans multiple fandoms and this one's running away with itself.

This post at stop_plagiarism has the full details but here's the short version:

If you see posts on any of your comms accusing someone called Spiletta or Spiletta42 of plagiarism, it is a troll.

The whole thing is terribly out of hand, and extremely vicious (posting of RL details has gone on as well) and mods are stamping on it as quickly as they can. BUT they have to know about it. Please direct them to the [livejournal.com profile] stop_plagiarism post for full details, and if the IP address of the poster can be noted, that would be useful too in tracking the troll for reporting to LJ Abuse.

The person responsible is using the usernames claireandelle1, furqueen[96] (not sure about the numbers) and kittyxpete.

So far, Stargate, Buffy, B5, Torchwood and Doctor Who comms have been hit. The mods at [livejournal.com profile] stop_plagiarism are trying to track everything down so that LJ Abuse can be informed, but the more information, the better.

Also, if you're a mod, check your comm! Most of mine are on moderated status anyway, but if you're not, please keep a close eye on it. What with the shoebox project getting hacked (DO NOT GO TO THE SITE THIS MEANS YOU*), and [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge and others getting attacked recently, it feels like fandom's adopted a siege mentality. Writers who have a higher profile than me (I'm looking at some of my House friends in particular here), please make sure everything's backed up, because these folks are nasty, and they're going after the popular writers.

Remember: You're not paranoid if they're actually out to get you.

*seriously, DO NOT GO TO THE SITE. If you do, run a spyware check IMMEDIATELY. Look after your computer!

See how much I love you guys? I haven't even had coffee and I'm posting you links.

Go here for the Royal Society talk between Marcus du Sautoy and Mark Haddon. That's just the general page. Scroll down and select the "Physics and Mathematics" tab and it's the first talk. You can even watch them if you want!

It's streaming rather than D/L and I don't know if it's visible outside the U.K. If it isn't and some clever soul manages to make it so, a link would be much appreciated, I'm sure...
