My head is still a mess at the moment, so I have vague hopes of actual content somewhere in the not too distant future. In the meantime, I've been doing a little housekeeping.

I was going to say I wrote nothing in June, then I opened a whole bunch of tabs, so apparently I write even when I don't think I'm writing.

The List )

That's 6 ficlets, just under 2,500 words in total. Not too shabby.

Then, of course, there's my [livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang entry, which was written over a few months so I'm not sure it counts towards my June total.

Nothing Else But Change
27,000 words, Jack, Gen.

Thinky thoughts and why I love this story and wish I'd written it differently. Including thoughts about Jack, philosophy, getting back to basics and the lasting influence of Buffy the Vampire Slayer )

Wow, that went on longer than I meant it to! Thoughts, feedback and concrit is welcomed and encouraged for 'Nothing Else But Change'. I knew what I was going for, but was aware I didn't quite hit it. Anything that will help me get there next time would be much appreciated.

This...isn't really the Housekeeping post I meant it to be, but I got a bit carried away and it's now time for coffee. Maybe now I've got it out of my system I'll be able to post about what I *really* wanted to post about later on.

Hope everyone's having a good day *waves*

Things I did this weekend:

- Walked (So. Very. Far. Through mud. Fun, but MUD!)
- Ate (Wonderful local food and fabulous breakfasts. NOM)
- Slept (Comfy, comfy bed)
- Edited my first 'proper' Supernatural story (just about ready to post)
- Started my TARDIS Big Bang (\o/)

Things I didn't do this weekend:

- Think about work (which was the plan)
- Read my friends-list (No chance of catching up now, not with skip=eleventy-billion)
- Read the story I said I'd beta (Bad beta! No biscuit! Sorry, donut - today, I promise!)
- Watch Doctor Who (PLEASE DON'T SPOIL ME! I love everyone who's been using LJ cuts to keep the details under wraps - it's so much appreciated!)

ION:

[livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang REALLY NEEDS MORE ARTISTS.

Photobucket

This is urgent, folks. Please beg, borrow and steal all the artists you know and hustle them over to the comm. Particularly if you're a writer or friends with a writer (and if you're reading this, you're friends with a writer!), because we want to try to match or surpass last year's incredible contributions. Pinch a graphic, whack it in communities and your journal and help the fandom out!

THANK YOU!

Right, it's back to reality (ie work) now. Full weekend report to follow. Everyone okay out there? Good weekends? Is everyone back to work now?
jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Happy - Jack ooh)
Over the weekend, I composed two posts about Genfic - the first was too whiny for public consumption and the second was too rambly, so they're staying privately locked while I try to sort out what I actually want to say, instead of just moaning that the stories I want to read don't seem to have been written or that there aren't enough people writing just for me.

In the meantime, I'm gradually slipping back into the Whoniverse. As a preface to that, if anyone has any good River Song fic recs, or just 'must read' Doctor Who stories, I'm collecting them for [livejournal.com profile] darsynia - I've already recommended all of you to her, so please point me to people I might not know about!

Tardis Big Bang Round Two!

We kick off in a week or so - time to start thinking!

[livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang is a go!

Big image under cut )

[livejournal.com profile] hllangel (whose idea the whole shebang was), [livejournal.com profile] darththalia and [livejournal.com profile] ladyamarra have been fantastic to work with, we've had an absolute blast and I can't believe we got through with our senses of humour intact!

So! Go peruse the fantastic stories, with everything from Gen to strong NC-17 stuff, Time Lords, villains, heroes and everyone in between. Go boggle at the incredible artwork, and the vids. Have fun and remember to tell everyone how brilliant they are!

And if you wrote or made something, remember to track your post in the feedback journal at [livejournal.com profile] tardisbigbang

ETA: Er...*shuffles feet* My story is linked below, by the way. With art by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] _medley_ and [livejournal.com profile] matsujo9.

Title: Moonrise
Summary: 1969, Torchwood House, Scotland. When Jack is sent to investigate a series of thefts, he finds that the history of the House is not as past as he'd thought. [Rating: M (violence)]
This story fits into my Sic Transit Tempus series, and contains references to the Doctor Who episode Tooth and Claw but can easily be read without knowledge of them.

[livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang goes live tonight!* We're there, we're actually there! Everything works and looks great, and I can't believe it actually all came together! I'm so proud of all our entries! I think I may be addicted to exclamation marks!!!!!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!

*ahem*

We now return you to your scheduled early morning sleepiness...

*Tonight UK time. Midday elsewhere. Early morning elseelsewhere. Middle of the night somewhere else, probably. I can only just work my own time zone out, let alone anyone else's...

ETA: Help! How do I stop watching a community without leaving it? I know I've done that before, but can I work out how to do it again? Can I heck as like...

Awwwww

You know, [livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang has been a slog. I'm not 100% happy with my story but it's good enough, we have some great stories and we've got some of the best art work I've seen in any fandom.

The whole experience has been fun, it's been annoying, it's been hard work, it's been a joy, it's been nervewracking, it's been a learning curve, it's been a pleasure, it's been a pain, It's been not waving but drowning.

To be honest, there have been times when I've thought I've been doing it wrong, then someone goes and does something like this [a banner saying "Mods Rock!" for those who can't see it], which just gives me the warm fuzzies.

And makes it all worth it.
